Whether you&rsquo;re new to health insurance or a seasoned pro, you can always learn something new when it comes to managing your health and healthcare costs. Here&rsquo;s a tip that could save you money:
Make sure your doctor or healthcare provider is in your plan&rsquo;s network
Some health plans require members to be seen by doctors in a specific network (unless it&rsquo;s an emergency). 
Blue Cross&reg; Blue Shield&reg; of Arizona (BCBSAZ) works with doctors, hospitals, labs, clinics, and other healthcare providers to help you get the healthcare you need, and make it more affordable. These providers are part of specific networks. 
When you get care from one of these network providers, you are billed at the rate we negotiated with them when they joined the network. If you see a doctor, specialist, or other provider who is not in your health plan&rsquo;s network, your bill may be significantly higher. An HMO plan has no out of network benefits, except in a case of emergency.&nbsp;
Also remember that if you need to see a specialist, your health maintenance organization (HMO)&nbsp;plan may require you to first get a referral from your primary care provider (PCP). If you see a specialist without a referral&mdash;even if they are in the network&mdash;your visit may not be covered.
Finding a provider in your plan&rsquo;s network
To look up network providers, log in to <a href="https://www.azblue.com/account-management/bluenet-online" target="_blank">azblue.com/myblue</a>. There, you can use the <a href="https://www.azblue.com/individualsandfamilies/find-a-doctor" target="_blank">&ldquo;Find a Doctor&rdquo; tool</a> to search for doctors, hospitals, labs, and other healthcare professionals in your plan&rsquo;s network. You can also read patient reviews and get estimated costs for treatments.
Not sure what type of health plan you have? Simply check your member ID card. At the bottom of the card, you&rsquo;ll see &ldquo;HMO&rdquo; in bold letters. You may also call the Customer Service number that appears on the back of your card. Our service team will be glad to help you learn more about your plan.
