Respiratory virus season comes around every fall. That means flu, COVID-19, and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) will be going around at the same time. During the <a rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.azdhs.gov/preparedness/epidemiology-disease-control/infectious-disease-epidemiology/respiratory-illness/dashboards/index.php#flu" target="_blank">2024-2025 season</a>&nbsp;in Arizona, there were more than 58,000 COVID cases, 76,000 flu cases, and 17,000 RSV cases reported.
While everyone is susceptible, there are some at<a rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.cdc.gov/respiratory-viruses/risk-factors/index.html" target="_blank"> higher risk</a> than others, and they should prepare before cases climb in the fall and winter months.

The good news? You can help protect yourself and your loved ones from sickness or serious complications. Getting vaccinating and practicing a few simple habits&mdash;like washing your hands, covering coughs and sneezes, and staying home when you&rsquo;re sick&mdash;can go a long way in keeping you and the people around you healthy all season long.
CDC recommendation:

 <li>Flu: Everyone 6 months and older should get a <a rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.cdc.gov/flu/vaccines/?CDC_AAref_Val=https://www.cdc.gov/flu/prevent/flushot.htm" target="_blank">flu vaccine</a> each year.</li>
 <li>COVID-19: An updated <a rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.cdc.gov/covid/vaccines/stay-up-to-date.html" target="_blank">COVID-19 vaccine</a> for most adults 18 and older. Parents of children ages six months to 17 years should discuss with their doctor. </li>
 <li>RSV: <a rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.cdc.gov/respiratory-viruses/prevention/immunizations.html" target="_blank">Vaccines and immunizations are recommended</a> to protect adults 50 and older, babies, and some children from severe RSV.</li>

RSV

<a rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.cdc.gov/rsv/about/index.html" target="_blank">RSV</a> is a common respiratory virus that causes cold-like symptoms. Infants and older adults are at greater risk for severe infection and hospitalization.

Influenza

Every flu season is different, and flu can affect people differently.</li>
