The RealAge Test and Program

What is the RealAge test?

The RealAge test is a scientifically based health assessment that determines the true age of the body you’re living in. After you've completed the RealAge assessment, the app starts delivering content to you that relates to your specific health needs and concerns. It also offers tools to help you improve your health and well-being, and ultimately lower your RealAge.

If I don’t finish taking the RealAge test, do I have to start over?

No, you can pause the RealAge test at any time, and all your answers are automatically saved so you can complete the test at a later date.

Do I need my biometrics for my RealAge test?

Biometrics are not required, but your RealAge result will be more accurate with your biometric data. We recommend having your biometric screening prior to taking your RealAge test. Biometrics are fasting or nonfasting measurements that may include total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides, blood glucose, blood pressure, height, weight, and waist measurement.

Some employers may offer a variety of screening options that could include on-site screenings, having your labs from your physician uploaded, or going to a participating lab. Check with your employer for your options.

What is the RealAge Program?

Upon completion of the RealAge test, you can participate in the RealAge Program. This program is personalized to  you based on your RealAge test responses and personal interest. The program targets the four highest lifestyle  risks—stress, sleep, nutrition, and activity. You can create achievable goals, and take small actions to establish habits that can lead to goal achievement. Participate in the program by clicking on the “RealAge Program” under your Health Profile (You).

What is a Green Day?

Green Days are the health currency that Sharecare uses to measure your progress, essentially empowering you to improve your RealAge in real time by tracking the most critical health factors that affect your RealAge. Each key health factor is rated on a three-point color scale from green to red. Your goal is to be “in the green” for eight of the trackers each day, earning a “Green Day” which is represented by a full green heart.

Health Profile

What is my Sharecare Health Profile?

Your health profile is the central location that organizes your health-related information by category. All are integrated with a member’s claims data if they are a BCBSAZ health plan member. You can edit, add, or delete any information in your health profile. You have control over the information that is in your health profile.

Does Sharecare securely store my personal information?

Yes, Sharecare complies with HIPAA’s security rule. Sharecare stores your personal health information in your Sharecare account. Please see the Sharecare Privacy Policy for more information.

Where does the data in my Health Profile come from?

The Sharecare integrated experience is being provided for you by BCBSAZ. Sharecare will securely store and display information from your BCBSAZ health plan within your Sharecare Health Profile.

All of the data in your profile notes where it came from. For example, let’s say you indicated that you have diabetes when you took the RealAge Test. In your Sharecare health profile, you’ll see “diabetes” listed as one of your conditions, with a note indicating that the information came from your RealAge test.

Trackers

What are the trackers?

The trackers allow you to record sleep, stress, relationships, blood pressure, weight, smoking, cholesterol, alcohol, fitness and health, diet, medications and blood glucose. The trackers can be populated from the results of your RealAge test, uploaded biometrics, or self entry. The platform informs you daily which trackers need to be updated by color coding them. Anything not already green is an opportunity to track and change to green.

How do I know which trackers to update?

The trackers that you are required to update daily are based on the results of your RealAge Test. The trackers that appear in green are automatically populated from the results of your RealAge Test or your health profile. The trackers that appear in white must be updated.

Are there trackers that update automatically?

The Sharecare app comes with built-in auto-detection features as well as integration with third-party apps that can help you automatically track your activities throughout the day. For Android devices, auto-detection tracking is available for sleep, steps, stress, and relationships. For Apple devices, this tracking is available for sleep and steps. As you engage with the app, you will be prompted to set up the automatic tracking. You may also set this up by clicking the settings icon in the corner of the screen (looks like a gear).

Can I connect my Fitbit or other trackers?

Go to the Settings screen to connect with Apple Health, Google Fit, Fitbit, or Samsung Health and choose the Tracker(s) you want to start tracking automatically. Once you select a Tracker, you will see an indicator showing that tracking has been enabled.

After selecting your source and Tracker(s), data will synchronize to Sharecare via your source. If data is not syncing, open the source app (e.g., Fitbit) to ensure it is collecting the most recent data. You can also connect your Fitbit to automatically track your sleep and steps. This allows the Sharecare app to access data in your Fitbit account. You must still periodically sync your Fitbit device with the Fitbit app for data to appear in your trackers.
