Indoor Activities for Kids

May 27, 2026

When the weather isn’t the best to play outside, here are some fun ways at home or in your community to spend time indoors.

At home:

  1. Have a family movie party: Grab your pillows, couch cushions, and blankets and make some popcorn. Find a movie streaming or rent one from your local library.
  2. Create your own art gallery: The whole family can contribute art and set it up around your house to create a gallery. Pick a theme, a type of art material, or let the creative juices flow!
  3. Set up an obstacle course: It won’t be quiet, but it will be fun! Set up stations with cushions to bounce across, a place for jumping jacks or stretches, or other creative moves.

In your community:

  1. Visit your public library: Check your local library’s offerings for activities, or check out books and movies to enjoy at home.
  2. Volunteer: Animal shelters, food banks, and more can make getting out of the house rewarding.
  3. Walk the mall: An indoor mall is a great way to get some exercise in when the weather doesn’t work to be outside.
