What is Medicaid?
Medicaid is a U.S. government program that provides health care coverage for individuals, families, and children with limited resources. The program is funded by both federal and state dollars.
In our state, the Medicaid program is called the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS pronounced “access”). It provides services to nearly 2 million Arizonans.
Do you qualify for Medicaid?
Applicants must meet certain income and other eligibility requirements. You can learn more or apply online at healthearizonaplus.gov. New enrollees can apply at any time during the year – no need to wait for a specific window.

Medicaid for children
KidsCare provides health care coverage for children (under age 19) who do not qualify for other AHCCCS insurance.
Who can get it?
Children under 19 years old whose parents or guardians meet income guidelines.

KidsCare covers health services that support children’s growth, development, and well-being.
