Out with the old, in with the new!

Valleywise Health Medical Center held its Community Grand Opening events earlier this month, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona (AZ Blue) joined in on the celebration!

The new medical facility in Phoenix is replacing the 50-year-old legacy hospital at 24th Street and Roosevelt. Valleywise Health Foundation representatives said the decades-old hospital no longer met the needs for patient care and did not have the supporting technological advancements seen in healthcare today. The ‘outdated’ facility has been replaced with the new medical center that is expected to significantly improve patient care and the overall patient experience, and help Arizonans lead healthier lives.

With a shared mission of inspiring health, AZ Blue has been a proud partner of Valleywise Health Foundation for years, contributing more than $275,000 since 2020 to programs that positively impact the most vulnerable Arizonans, like youth and families affected by mental health conditions and substance use disorder. This ‘historical’ support has earned AZ Blue a name on the new medical center’s Corporate and Community Leaders dedication wall – and we couldn’t be more honored!

“We are grateful for the generous support provided over the years through an amazing partnership with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona. Their generosity has allowed Valleywise Health clinicians to provide exceptional and compassionate patient care to every patient and family we serve, ensuring access to care, regardless of a patient’s ability to pay. AZ Blue’s dedication to our community and to ensuring access to care, during some of the most unprecedented times, through support for the mission of Valleywise Health, has ensured our ability to serve our patients with the utmost care and compassion. As we prepare to open our new medical center we are immensely grateful for the community partnerships who have paved the way for this exciting moment in our history. Thank you for your generosity and support. We are truly grateful.” – Kate Fassett, CFRE Chief Advancement Officer Valleywise Health Foundation
