March 9, 2023

Head to Goodyear Ballpark on March 18 for a good workout – and a great cause!

Tour de Cure, the American Diabetes Association’s premiere cycling and fundraising event, is on its way to the West Valley. The goal is to raise money, bring people together to learn about diabetes, and support those living with it.

Tour de Cure has had great fundraising success each time it's been held in Arizona. Money raised goes toward advancements in diabetes research, educational programming, and advocacy efforts that include supporting insulin affordability and preventing type 2 diabetes.

You don’t have to be a cycling pro to sign up. There are three different routes to choose from:

56 miles: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/41605190

Health & Wellness Village at Tour de Cure Arizona

Say “hi” to all our Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona (BCBSAZ) employees at Tour de Cure! Some will be riding, and others from the BCBSAZ Health Promotion and Wellness team will be at the Wellness Village from 8 a.m. to noon. Meet with one of our wellness specialists to learn about nutrition and well-being, explore available Arizona resources to inspire health in your family, and even get a free health screening.

As part of the BCBSAZ Diabetes Action Plan, we’re sponsoring the Wellness Village, bringing in partners like the Arizona Department of Health ServicesPower PawsLivongo, and Sonora Quest to promote healthy living.

"There are several identified health disparities in the state of Arizona and, in many cases, diabetes is part of the problem,” Aaron Dunn, Executive Director for the American Diabetes Association (ADA) said. “The ADA and BCBSAZ partnership at this event, and their partnership in other community programs in 2023, will help to slow the negative impact diabetes causes in our community."

As part of the comprehensive Diabetes Action Plan, BCBSAZ is seeking to reduce diabetes progression by 25% by 2025. To learn why defeating diabetes in our state is so important, visit AZBlue - BCBSAZ - Understanding Diabetes
