    Alcohol is a legal, recreational substance many adults consume safely and responsibly. However, because wine, beer, and liquor are easily available and socially acceptable, alcohol is a substance that is frequently misused.

    Opioids can safely reduce pain when prescribed and used correctly. When misused, they can lead to addiction and even death.
  • About Stimulants

    Stimulants are a class of drugs that increase the brain’s production of dopamine, the chemical that creates the experience of pleasure. Stimulants that are not taken as directed can be dangerous.

A free, nationwide substance use resource center is available to all Arizonans. The Substance Use Resource Center (SURC) is made possible by Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies.
