ARIZONA – May 1, 2024The Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona Foundation for Community & Health Advancement announces the opening of its Mental Health Matters grant, which will award up to $125,000 to each selected local nonprofit, educational institution, and community organization addressing mental health in Arizona. Applications will be accepted from May 1 to May 29, 2024.

With mental health as its flagship focus, AZ Blue’s Foundation is investing in community partners to expand resources and access, reduce stigma, and connect people to care. Areas of focus include but are not limited to: suicide prevention, youth mental health, the intersection of mental health and substance use disorder, health equity, and the COVID-19 effect.

“Arizona ranks near the bottom in mental health care and accessibility, and we want to help change that, said Dr. Christine Wiggs, President and Board Chair for the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona Foundation for Community & Health Advancement. "By fostering support and investing in organizations that are addressing mental health, together we can help uplift health and create more resilient communities across our state.”

In 2023, the Foundation provided grants to 26 organizations addressing mental health, including Child Crisis Arizona, ChildHelp, Girl Scouts – Arizona Cactus-Pine Council, notMYkid, Soldier’s Best Friend, among others.

The Foundation will host a Bidders Conference on May 8, 2024, to share information about the application process, provide tips on standing out in a competitive field, and answer questions. Visit the registration page to sign up.
