Why Value-Based Care Matters
Value Based Care continues to reshape how members receive care and how carriers collaborate with providers. VBC is a care model that rewards providers for keeping members healthy, not for the number of services they perform. In this approach, doctors focus on prevention, early treatment, and better coordination across the member’s entire care team. For your Medicare clients, this means a more thoughtful and supportive healthcare experience. This helps members stay healthier, avoid unnecessary hospital visits, and feel truly supported along their healthcare journey.
AZ Blue’s Focus on Value-Based CareThe healthcare industry is changing quickly, and health insurance plans across the country are facing new challenges. Rising costs, the introduction of new treatments and technologies with higher price tags, and ongoing shifts in government policy are reshaping how plans operate and make decisions.
Like many Medicare Advantage plans, AZ Blue is narrowing its provider network to continue offering competitive and affordable coverage.
Effective July 1, primary care providers employed by HonorHealth, Banner Health, and many independent providers not part of our contracted Value-Based Care (VBC) network, will no longer participate in our MA network in Maricopa and Pinal counties. In addition, PCPs employed by Banner Health in Pima County will no longer participate in our MA network. Specialists, hospitals and facilities for HonorHealth and Banner Health remain in network.
