Benefit Books & Riders for Transitional BCBSAZ Individual & Family Plans
Transitional plans were sold between October 2010 - December 2013. They are called “transitional” because they were sold after the passage of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), but before January 1, 2014, when certain ACA reforms became required. Based on current federal and state regulatory guidance, issuers are allowed to continue these plans for individuals and families already enrolled in them.
These plans are not available for new sales. Only new dependents of current enrollees can enroll in these plans.

The benefit plan benefit book (and any related rider(s)) have information about covered services, excluded services and health plan administration. You always need to look at both the benefit book and any rider(s) because a rider can change the terms of the benefit book such as adding or removing benefits, and changing cost share terms. BCBSAZ can change the terms of a benefit plan or a rider as required or allowed by applicable state and/or federal law.
If you have questions about the information in a benefit book or rider, or believe you have accessed the wrong documents, please call Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona for help.
