Asthma
According the American Lung Association, asthma is a chronic condition that affects the airways in the lungs, causing them to become inflamed and narrow, which can make breathing difficult.
Common symptoms include
- shortness of breath
- Wheezing
- Coughing
- chest tightness
Symptoms may come and go and can worsen during asthma flare‑ups, also called asthma attacks. Flare‑ups are often triggered by allergies, respiratory infections, exercise, smoke, weather changes, or stress. While asthma cannot be cured, it can usually be well controlled with proper treatment and trigger management, allowing people to live active, healthy lives.
