Special Enrollment Period for Tax Season
You may qualify for this special enrollment period if you:
*Individuals who qualify for a coverage exemption do not face a penalty. Individuals who have other qualifying events may have other enrollment opportunities. You may still owe a tax penalty for each month without coverage or an exemption.
Qualifying life events, which create a special enrollment period, are defined in federal law. Certain events may require certification from the Federally Facilitated Marketplace (the Exchange).
Most special enrollment periods last sixty (60) days from the date of the event.

* Voluntarily quitting other health coverage or being terminated for not paying your premiums is not considered loss of coverage. Losing coverage that does not qualify as “minimum essential coverage” under federal law, is not considered a qualifying event.
BCBSAZ will require you to send proof of the qualifying event before BCBSAZ will issue coverage. BCBSAZ will contact you for the proof after you send in your application.
