SANTA CRUZ: Fighting Childhood Obesity

Fighting childhood obesity is a cause deeply embedded into the culture at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona (BCBSAZ). So when the opportunity arose to help the Healthy Habits program at the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Cruz County, BCBSAZ did not hesitate.

The Boys & Girls Club is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that provides a safe place for youth, ages 6-18, to explore and learn. BCBSAZ made a donation to the non-profit’s Healthy Habits program to help children develop healthy attitudes and behaviors about nutritious eating and physical fitness.

“Healthy Habits gives young people the knowledge and experience to build healthy eating and fitness habits that will last a lifetime,” said Vicki Barden, executive director of The Boys & Girls Club of Santa Cruz County. “We are grateful to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona for helping us build a healthier generation.”
